Dr Michel Erlewyn-Lajeunesse

Dr Mich Lajeunesse is a Consultant in Paediatric Allergy & Immunology at Southampton Children’s Hospital, and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Southampton. He is an accredited specialist in Paediatric Immunology, Infectious Diseases and Allergy, a member of the British Society for Allergy and Clinical Immunology, and a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health.
He was appointed as a consultant in Southampton in 2007. In 2014 Southampton was recognised as a National Centre of Excellence by the World Allergy Organization. He now works part time for the NHS dividing his time between the clinic and research.
Dr Lajeunesse is actively involved in food allergy research and is interested in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of food allergy in children and the mechanisms of natural tolerance. He has also undertaken research on the safety of vaccines, especially in children with allergies. He is a member of the teaching faculty of the Allergy MSc course at the University of Southampton and leads the Paediatric Allergy Training course hosted by the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health.
Dr Lajeunesse takes a holistic approach to children with allergic problems and is experienced in the management of complex and severe allergies. He maintains an open minded interest in complementary and alternative medicine and studied homeopathy when he worked at Bristol Children’s Hospital. He is one of a small team of hospice doctors at Naomi House Children’s Hospice.
The Reverend Dr Mich Lajeunesse is a self-supporting minister in the Church of England. He was ordained deacon at Petertide, July 2021 and serves as an assistant curate in the Romsey benefice.
